Here is my report on the V2 aprons:
I don't have the count from V1.
We have 26 "volunteer" logos available.
Ten (10) aprons are done; Fourteen (14) more need the straps; I need to look
at the 10 "vests" we got from ARC; we have enough logos to complete the 24
aprons.
We have 2.5 yards of fabric (heavy dark blue linen) that I can cut for more
aprons or do more table toppers. We have plenty of bias binding for
straps/edging.
Dee did send me the RP logo without the word volunteer for the backdrop logo.
I have not made any progress on the backdrop. I may need to look for a
simpler rack to display. The quilt stand takes quite a bit of effort to
setup/use. It is still available if we want to use it for v2.
Update on the Chris photos: she had manipulated the photos and reduced the resolution on what she shared. In asking her to do photos I had talked to her about getting photos of folks having fun and participating in the Repair Cafe. I was concerned about her well-being and was happy to see her that day.
We do need to resolve the issue of "permissions" (there is no mention in our rules) and Repair Cafe expectations for photos (all unedited source materials). Not sure how the photographers will respond, but we can ask.
Update on the aprons: working on finishing the 7 I have out of the original batch. I have strap fabric for another 100 but may offer some to ARC. I will make aprons/vests till I run out of logos (I'll have a count when we meet). I particularly like the way the logo shows up in the photos.
Update on the backdrop cloth logos: I need a clean logo (without the "volunteer") and the finished size and placement pattern. Printing these will take several weeks if we choose to repeat what we did for v1.
I have 9 of the original 11 I cut. Added 2 from green/pink linen scraps. Picked up 4 finished by another sewer plus a black apron used as a pattern. My set of available logos is down to 10; looking for more "print" bias tape because it looks more scrappy; may have to cut ARC fabric into tape or ask for a donation from the Tempe Needle Wielders (this requires a 501-c(3) designation and ??? approval at some management level).
The Repair Cafe Chandler Kickoff Event on April 23, 2022, was a collaborative effort between Chandler Nazarene Church, the City of Chandler, For Our City Chandler, Bike Saviours Bicycle Collective, Greenfield Vietnamese Church, Chandler Public Library, sewists from The_Cinderella_Affair, and volunteers from all walks of life. 30 volunteers repaired 65 items brought in by people from the community. Items repaired included Furniture, toys, clothing, hair dryer, cell phone, weed whackers, vacuum cleaner, air pump, knives, scissors, machetes, garden clippers, and a 1959 rotary dial phone! We raised awareness in the community about growing a repair culture vs. the existing replace culture. We are looking forward to hosting these events quarterly.
I did deliver to the sponsor/donation request to the East Valley Women's League (they sponsor the Cinderella Affair) and are lending us the sewing machines.
Update for Repair Cafe planning group - person in charge of Eco Week in Tempe at FABRIC is Angela Johson (https://www.facebook.com/AngelaJohnsonDesigns). Do you want me to send the contact info from my phone?
Hi Dianna - Do you know Angela personally? If so, it might be better for you to reach out since you already have a connection. If not, I will reach out tomorrow (Monday). I found this email address on the FABRIC website. [email protected] If you have a personal one, please send it my way. That would probably be better.
Dee had asked me who was in charge of Eco Week. It was an action item I had in my notes from our last meeting.
Sure. Send it to my phone. Has she expressed an interest in participating at the organization level? Or is this a sustainability partner contact?
I contacted the following live news stations today. Let me know if you can suggest others. I don't watch much local tv, lol.

Here are some potential postcard designs to send to the Park Manors neighborhood and others if we wish.
Hi Team! What do you think of this for the front of the volunteer aprons? I would like to keep it fairly simple. I have a friend who will cut some stencils for us, and Dianna will use fabric paint to put it on the aprons. The aprons are being sewn from rescued fabric from our friends at the Art Resource Center in Tempe. They will help us present a unified appearance while fitting into the Repair Cafe ethos of using what we have instead of buying new.
If you prefer the circle that we talked about at the meeting, I can work on that (or maybe Dee will have time for that?)--but I would like to focus time and energy on publicity and recruiting "day of event" volunteers at this point.
Okay, Dee has provided a version of the circle logo which I like much better. I have contacted my friend who assures me that they do not let any vinyl go to waste. I am going to have her cut vinyl logos to be ironed on to aprons. No painting necessary. Thank you, Dee! And thank you, Dianna, for getting the aprons made for us!
Another repair type idea - jewelry!! I know some people who hold on to broken jewelry thinking they will get it fixed someday.
Just went thru my contacts list and have 24 invites to address. I just sent out a text message to a high school senior (my dear niece) about volunteering opportunities; she is looking for hours. Asked her if there were any "service" clubs at Hamilton.

I noticed this furniture repair place near the VA hospital when I was out walking yesterday.
