Workshops are provided for kids in 3rd - 6th class; we'll find a time and date that works for you! Workshops are also available for parents.
School workshops cover the basics of internet safety including: social media, gaming, geo-location, personal data, password security, and internet safety. The content is engaging and contains videos, group work, detective games for younger children, and discussions on safety aspects on the most current social media apps.
School workshops are delivered in-person by our specially trained tutors over the course of a school morning. Currently, we have trainers active in the following areas:
- Dublin
- Wicklow
- Kildare
- Meath
- Westmeath
- Louth
- Longford
- Clare
- Cavan
- Limerick
- Tipperary
- Cork
Complete Pre-Workshop Survey
In order to ensure that the workshop is tailored to the needs of your school, we ask you to get the kids in your class to complete a short questionnaire detailing what their technology experience has been e.g. how many students have their own devices, what platforms and apps they're already using and what their experience has been. Having this information will allow us to ensure the workshop is tailored and relevant to your school's needs.
See below for an example of some of the questions. This will be provided to your school as a private pre-coded survey specific for you that each child can fill in. The responses will then be used to design your workshop.
Prepare for Workshop Day
Organise your classroom space and schedule to accommodate the workshop timing - typically 30 minutes for 3rd class and 55 minutes for 4th-6th classes.
Ensure students are prepared for an interactive session involving videos, group work, and discussions. Brief other staff members about the workshop's purpose and timing.
Prepare any necessary materials or technology the trainers might need. Clear your morning schedule to allow for smooth workshop delivery.
Host the Workshop
Welcome the specially trained CyberSafeIreland tutor who will deliver engaging, interactive content covering social media safety, gaming risks, password security, and personal data protection.
Students participate in detective games, group discussions, and video-based learning tailored to their survey responses.
The trainer addresses current app safety concerns and provides practical guidance for safer online behaviour. Support the session by managing classroom dynamics and encouraging student participation.
Follow-Up and Resources
Distribute take-home materials including the "5 things we need to talk about at home" handout and Family Agreement templates to encourage parental engagement.
Review your comprehensive school report detailing usage trends, outcomes, and recommendations for ongoing online safety planning.
Use these insights to develop your school's digital citizenship policies and continue conversations about online safety.
