Ecosystem Restoration Communities

Ecosystem Restoration Communities (ERC) is a global, grassroots movement of earth restorers that is helping nature heal itself by replanting; restoring soil, water and food systems; and increasing local biodiversity on degraded land.

ERC is rooted in the belief that community involvement is key to lasting, systemic change. This is why at more than 80 restoration communities in over 39 countries across six continents, ERC is empowering local people to become change-makers with the resources and support needed to ensure that land restoration initiatives succeed and receive the long-term, effective care needed to become functioning ecosystems that remain intact for generations.

At every ERC the earth is being restored, wildlife and local livelihoods are returning, the planet is regreening, and climate change is being reversed. The Communities are restoring more than tens of thousands of ha. of degraded land - with a further 3.1 million ha. planned – and to date more than 5 million plants and trees have been planted.

“It only takes a shovel to plant a seedling. But it takes a village to raise a forest.”

Cómo participar

Tiempo: Being part of the Ecosystem Restoration Communities Movement is a multi-year commitment. It's easy to join: Joining the ERC community takes 3 days of your time, over a period of one month. We will go through the opportunities and make sure you are featured on our platform. The training will take 5 days. This is an online course that you can follow on your own pace. After that we will help you to understand how to measure your impact while doing a baseline study together. This will take 7 days. The actual restoration of degraded land and planting of trees will require a long-term commitment to make sure the trees survive and thrive.
