FIRST LEGO League France - Challenge

The Program
FIRST® LEGO® League shows young people what it means to be an engineer and to work with STEM skills and subjects. It focuses on hands-on, real-world learning so they are actors, not spectators. FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge is designed for 9-16 year olds and develops key skills essential for their future careers. Young people work together to explore a given topic. They must design, build and program an autonomous LEGO® robot to solve a series of missions.

Robot Game
Teams build a robot using a LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime kit and program it to autonomously complete a series of missions on a specialized terrain to score the most points possible.

Innovation Project
Teams research the annual theme as detailed in the Challenge Resource Pack. After exploring different ideas, they identify a problem related to the theme, design a solution to solve it and develop a presentation to communicate that solution.

Robot Design
Teams explain the process of designing, building, and programming the LEGO® robot they use in Robot Play.
Core Values - Teams are constantly working together to solve problems and create solutions.
The six Core Values that run through this program are Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork, and Fun. These Core Values are an integral part of the program. While they are working toward an end goal and have many goals, developing these skills is the most important part of the program for participants. The program gives all children on a team equal opportunities and each team member must contribute for the team to be successful.

What you can do
Teachers and coaches are fully supported with comprehensive resources available for download on the First Lego League France websites, training videos, digital resources and support.
You can register here, and if you are in a region with funding, complete the 30 Day Challenge to get a grant to cover all the costs associated with implementing the program in your school or youth organization. The West Side Robot Lab - First Lego League France team will support you throughout the process.
