Our work clearly demonstrates that young people want climate action that addresses the emergency but in a way that is fair, with responsibility shared. Through our evidence-based Climate Action Toolkit we are looking to ensure that 11 to 18 years olds are supported to carry out action, but also that their voices are heard and that they are included in decision making at all levels.

Welcome to the Climate Action Toolkit on ChangeX. Through this toolkit the charity InterClimate Network (ICN) will support secondary school students to lead on climate action across their school, and influence strategic decisions in their wider communities.
At the core of the toolkit is an online Climate Action Survey developed with academic and research agency partners and informed by behavioural science. The survey offers insights which empower students to motivate change and develop important skills along the way.
So how does it work?
A lead team of students is supported in rolling out the online Climate Action Survey across their whole school.
Our team then analyses the data and provides each school with a personalised report which offers insights into student views on the climate crisis and current behaviours, and highlights what will motivate further action. By asking as many students as possible to complete the survey, the intention is for everyone to ‘have a say’ and be involved.
Next in the toolkit are resources and support for students to turn these specific insights into effective climate campaigns that go further - more targeted, more creative, more impact.
We know that funding is tight and working with ChangeX funders we are pleased to be able to offer £500 per school to support students implement their climate action plans.
On top of the individual work with your school, each year your school’s data will be collated into a national report. This report will ensure youth voices are heard, intending to inform and positively influence change whether engaging with local authority or national democratic processes.
