Our mission? To empower people everywhere to change their communities for the better by making it easy for them to access the innovations, funding and support they need.

With our support, great innovations like Grow it Yourself, Girls Who Code, Cycling Without Age, Men’s Sheds, Repair Café, Pocket Forests and FIRST LEGO League, are being adopted by communities across the world.

So far, more than 17,000 community projects have started through ChangeX, scaling almost 100 innovations and benefitting over 600,000 people.

Our business model is called Impact as a Service. We make it easy for funders to invest in the innovations they want to spread in regions they care most about. Our partners include Microsoft, Accenture, the LEGO Foundation and Amazon Web Services.

We are in an exciting growth phase, as we prepare to launch in multiple new regions. And we are growing our team across all functions to deliver on this growth.

This role: Impact Associate (German Language)

This role is an opportunity for a customer support professional who is interested in having a positive impact.

In this role you will support hyperlocal teams who are interested in starting a project through ChangeX to better their community. You will be part of our Impact team working closely with our global team of Impact Associates supporting community changemakers around the world.

You will be responsible for all German language support, including introductory calls with community teams, ongoing email support, and managing our due diligence processes.

In this role, you will:

  • Carry out due diligence calls with those who have applied to start a community project in Austria or Germany, to provide support and assess whether they are committed and qualified to receive funding to start their project of choice. These calls are the most important touchpoint we have with community leaders who are starting projects, and they are an energising experience for the ChangeX team, giving us the opportunity to hear about their motivations and plans
  • Manage German language email support via Intercom, following up with community teams to gather the information needed to approve their project and ensuring that all inbound requests are responded to in a timely manner
  • Oversee due diligence processes for all community teams in Austria and Germany, using Trello to gather and store information required for each project
  • Review and edit content for the proven innovations included in portfolios in Austria and Germany, to ensure they are relevant for an Austrian and/or German audience. This content will have already been translated to a high level via a translation professional, so this task is focused on quality control, cultural nuance and learning.
  • Review and translate marketing materials e.g. digital ads, and direct mail emails to ensure relevance to the audience
  • Provide support to the Impact team as they build local databases of schools, community organisations, local government etc. in Austria and Germany
  • Ongoing adhoc translations as needed.

Timing

This is a 3-6 month part-time role. We estimate it will require up to 20 hrs/week. You can choose the times that suit you best to carry out the work, once you have some time blocks (approx 5-10 hours per week) available during regular working hours for the due diligence calls to be scheduled in your calendar via the ChangeX product.

We are looking for people who have:

  • A demonstrated commitment to community-driven change and a good understanding of social and environmental issues
  • The ability to work in German and English;
  • Great communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Highly empathetic and strong ethical fibre;
  • Strong research skills;
  • Fast learner;
  • Experience with customer support tools (Intercom, Zoom, Calendly, Trello) preferred.

Recruitment process

If this role interests you, get in touch to tell us why. Please send your CV to Katie at [email protected] by Friday May 20th. And include a note outlining why you think you’d be the right person for this role.

We will shortlist several candidates for an interview with a cross-section of our team. We like candidates to talk to as many of our team as possible to allow us – and you – to make the best decision possible.

After the interview process is complete, we will quickly move to decision making and offer.
