During this time of crisis, we have seen unprecedented goodwill and offers of support from individuals and communities. These inspiring actions demonstrate that people still want to connect and strengthen their community. We want to help coordinate these goodwill efforts so that they are as effective as possible by focusing on building community in neighbourhoods, reducing loneliness and kick-starting ideas for positive community participation.
How it Works
If you have a community group that are looking after neighbours or organising community events, please register your group here.
We encourage everyone to register, whether you’re a member of an existing group of neighbours or volunteers, or you want to start building a sense of community on your street.
Once you’ve signed up to Neighbourhood Network, you will gain access to special online gatherings and weekly newsletters. Plus, The Neighbourhood Network team is here to support you as you grow your community. We can offer advice on how to get a group started, how to connect with your neighbours, safety for cocooners and more.
Why it Matters
Together, we can ensure that neighbours who are vulnerable and self-isolating due to COVID–19 are looked after and fully supported by their communities. We can also strengthen ties and build long-lasting connections within neighbourhoods.
2020 Community Activity Guide
As restrictions are loosened, we don't want those who may still be isolating to be forgotten. We want to maintain and celebrate the connections that have formed in our neighbourhoods during lock-down. That’s why we’ve launched our Community Activity Challenge, providing 30+ socially distanced activities that encourage residents to stay connected to those cocooning through fun and friendly activities. Neighbourhood Network can help you with activity packs, give tips on how to get funding and how to safely hold a fun community event, and more. We want to encourage more life on the streets, more friends closer to home and a celebration of the community around us.
