Global grants available for learning through play projects
This program is focused on enhancing the lives of underserved children by promoting equity and providing access to inclusive, quality learning through play experiences. Supported by the LEGO Foundation and in partnership with the LEGO Group, our aspiration is for children to become creative, engaged, lifelong learners who thrive in a constantly changing world.

Kriteria kelayakan

  • Projects submitted using this link should have an implementation period one year or less.
  • Applicant must be nominated to apply by the LEGO Group, and information submitted should match details that have been approved.
  • Projects must use learning through play.
  • Projects must aspire to benefit children aged birth to 13 years old.
  • Projects should not be conducted with schools.
  • Project budgets should not include more than 15% overhead on direct costs for project management.
  • Applicant must be a registered non-profit in their country of operation. Additionally, in India, applicants must be registered FCRA eligible organisations; in Vietnam, applicants must be eligible for grants under Decree 80/2020 and must have attained operational permit in the province of the proposed activities from VUSTA.; in Mexico, applicants must be authorised donatories.
  • Applicant organisations must have and adhere to a child safeguarding policy.
  • Applicants are entitled to distribute a part of the grant to sub-grantees that play a substantive role in fulfilling the objectives of the project. All sub-grantees must be described in the application form for approval.

  • How does the application process work?

    We aim to make the application process as quick and easy as possible. You will be asked to share details about your organisation, your project, the potential impact, and budget in an application form.

    This document includes all application form questions and word counts.

    We suggest making a copy and working with your LEGO Group partner to align on project details including budget in EUR and children reach before submitting.

  • What are the reporting requirements?

    You are required to share the progress and outcomes of your project with us. All updates and impact data will be shared with LEGO Group and LEGO Foundation.

    Please read through this help center article for the most up to date information on impact reporting.

    Reporting timeline at a glance

    • Once your grant is approved, but before receiving funding, you will be asked to sign a partnership agreement, read the help center article linked above, and provide your organisation's bank details.
    • 30 June of each year that your project is active (if applicable), you will be asked to complete a mid-year check-in reporting on actual children impacted through your project so far.
    • 31 December of each year that your project is active (if applicable), you will be asked to complete a mid-year check-in reporting on actual children impacted through your project so far as well as provide other updates.
    • Within one month of project end date you will be asked to complete a full impact survey and share high quality photos on your ChangeX project page.
  • What can and can’t funding be used for?

    Funds can be used to cover:

    • Direct costs for the set-up or maintenance of the project, e.g., space rental, insurance fees, tools, training fees.
    • Project budgets can include up to 15% overhead on direct costs for project management.

    Funds cannot be used to cover:

    • Cost of work that has already been carried out or anything that is not related to the setup and maintenance of the community project.
    • Promotion of religious causes, non-charitable activities, sponsorship, or fundraising events.
    • Promotion of or engagement in criminal acts of violence, terrorism, hate crimes, discrimination based on various grounds, or support of any entity that engages in these activities.
  • How will I receive the funding?

    Your organisation must have a bank account to receive funding. Once you’ve successfully completed the required initial steps, you will be asked to enter your bank details on the ChangeX website to facilitate the bank transfer through a secure payment provider. ChangeX will then review your application to make sure all elements have been completed successfully before making the transfer to your account.
