It can be hard to understand the impact that your play space has on your school or program’s culture and your students’ experience. And while there are a lot of solutions worth trying, it’s tough to know what’s working and what’s not.

That’s why Playworks has created the Recess Checkup – an online quiz designed to help you identify strengths and uncover areas for improvement at your playtime.

The quiz will ask you questions about the 3 areas we’ve found to be most essential at playtime – safety, empowerment, and engagement.

SparkPlay is Playworks’ subscription-based, online resource that supports continuous learning for school and youth development staff. It provides on-demand access to games, best practices, and professional guidance anytime, anywhere. The subscription includes weekly email touchpoints showcasing curated games, activities, and helpful tips.

HOW TO SIGN UP

• After your ChangeX 30 Day Challenge funding is released, you will receive an email from Playworks that provides step-by-step instructions to sign up for SparkPLay.
• Once you sign up for your account, you will get a shareable link that will enable your colleagues to sign up as well.

Strengthen and plan for safe and healthy play at your school or program.  Get customized, 1:1 coaching from an experienced Playworks trainer.  They will dive into evidence-based play practices and help you set realistic goals for improvement.

You and your starter team will leave with ideas, strategies, and a plan to sustain a positive playtime culture.

 

HOW TO SCHEDULE

• After your ChangeX 30 Day Challenge funding is released, you will receive an email from Playworks within 1 week that will connect you to someone who can help you schedule your 1:1 consultation.
• PLEASE NOTE: Location (virtual or in-person) will depend on your proximity to a Playworks office.

In order to implement the games and play practices you're learning, you will need equipment!

Playworks has put together a Recommended Equipment List (see resources) to help you identify the supplies that you will need. 

Once you receive the funds through ChangeX, you can go to a store or order from an online company - whatever is easiest for you!

Now that you've learned set playtime goals, learned some new tools and games, and connected with Playworks, it's time to start using your new skills with your students!

Playworks strategies rely on routines and systems, so try to stay consistent.  Little by little, you should start to see changes.  Just remember - impact doesn't happen overnight!
