Trees provide so many benefits for our communities and appropriate tree species and placement can maximize those benefits and minimize maintenance efforts. The Idea

Community tree plantings provide many benefits for the communities in which they are planted. Shade reduces the urban heat island effect, reduces cooling needs for surrounding areas, and provides shade for walking, living, or playing. Urban Forestry

Being involved with the Arizona Sustainability Alliance tree plantings has been one of the greatest rewards. Not only am I able to volunteer with a truly focused group helping our environment, I'm also able to take my daughter along in the journey. I continue to look forward to more projects as AZSA continues to impact the community in a positive, sustainable way

Tid: You'll need 2-3 hours each week to get your team together, to create a project plan, to reach an agreement with your property owner and to plan your planting day. Your planting day will be one full day (in early fall).

Here you'll find the information you need to organize a tree planting in your local neighborhood. The Arizona Sustainability Alliance can help you to select appropriate trees, organize your tree planting day and advise you on the ongoing maintenance of your trees. You can apply for funding to cover the cost of your trees, tools and your tree planting day - available funding is $4,000 - which will cover approximately 25 trees.
