Rural Superheroes

Rural Superheroes

Rural Superheroes is a playful-pedagogical program aimed at rural primary schools, which encourages in boys and girls love for the countryside and its protection

The costumes of the characters rescue those characteristics of the peasants and farmers in the context where the program will be implemented. For this reason, some details of the characters' outfits change according to the region where it is implemented, such as Captain Agrícola's hat can also be Voeltiao on the Caribbean coast, or it can be blue if it is Boyacá.
Currently, the program allows boys and girls to approach the themes with learning activities aligned to the curricula and the institutional educational project, based on fantasy and play. Once the guides are implemented, students are expected to develop competencies in the learning areas of: language, environmental sciences, and ethics and values. In the future, it is estimated that new guides will be created to cover the skills of Bilingualism (English) and Mathematics.
For the implementation of the program, we not only link the boys and girls of the rural school, but we also generate training for the school teachers and (optional) volunteers who support the implementation. Likewise, we can also link parents (optional).
This program has been created by Fundación Planeta Rural, a non-profit organization based in Colombia and made up of social entrepreneurs who, together with rural youth, aim to build a prosperous, sustainable and peaceful countryside. We are currently implementing projects to overcome poverty through the creation of social businesses in the regions of Montes de María and Urabá Antioqueño, as well as in some municipalities on the Caribbean coast. We have also had the opportunity to implement actions in Boyacá, Cundinamarca and Caquetá.
