Resource Checklist

Time

This award takes approximately 6 hours to deliver. Delivery is flexible. You could deliver it in a variety of ways to suit your group and we have a range of resources available to support with whichever delivery method you choose.

The great thing about the PlayMaker Award is that you don't need to be a sports specialist to deliver it. You simply need enthusiasm and interest in the development of life-long skills in young people through play and physical activity.

The award can be delivered by teachers, play leaders, sports development teams, trained Level 2 or Level 3 Sports Leaders (aged 14-18) and parents.

You simply need to choose two people to access the online training. These will become your trained delivery team.

Our online PlayMaker training will be made available once we have set you up as a delivery centre with us.

You will receive an email with details on how to access the online training and you can share with your chosen delivery team.

The training will cover:

  • What the PlayMaker award is about
  • Ideas on how the award can be delivered
  • An in-depth look at the resources

Once your delivery team is trained and ready to go, it's over to you to start delivering the award to your PlayMakers!

To support you in delivering the award, you will have access to printed and digital* versions of all the award resources including:

  • Learner worksheets
  • Learner cards
  • Activity Cards
  • Tutor resources

You will also receive ongoing communications from the team here at the Leadership Skills Foundation with tips, ideas, and challenges that you can use to bring your award to life!

* please note access to the digital resources is given on an academic year period (from the 1st August to the 31st July)

You can choose to celebrate your PlayMakers in any way you choose (who doesn't like a party or a special award ceremony!)

To help with the celebrations, you will receive printed certificates to give to your PlayMakers at the end of your delivery. We know from previous experience that young learners love to see a tangible recognition of all that they have achieved.

We would be delighted to share in your celebrations and congratulate your PlayMakers on our Twitter account - just tag us and we'll make sure to join in! @LshipSkillsFdn

Once your PlayMakers have completed the award, you'll be able to watch their confidence and resilience soar. You can provide them with opportunities to grow in self-belief even more through our leadership challenges (provided in the digital resources) and continue to recognise and reward their achievements.

There is no limits to what your PlayMakers can go on to achieve and the impact they can have in their communities. From captaining their local netball team to feeling confident enough to try out a new hobby or put their hand up in class more often: the results can be as diverse and individual as your PlayMakers are.

We can't wait to see where play will take them.
