Welcome to Peace First! To create a more just society, we believe that the single most powerful act we can do is prepare young people with the skills and commitment to solve problems with courage, compassion and collaboration; what we call peacemaking. Here you can learn how to empower and support youth peacemaking in your community.

Peace First is a global leader in investing in young people’s ability to imagine and implement compassionate solutions to injustices. Peace First believes in the power of all young people to change the world for the better through compassion — not someday in the future — right now. For 25 years, we have helped young people in over 90 countries around the world to be powerful peacemakers by: 1) providing them with tools and skills 2) investing in their ideas and 3) sharing their stories and impact with the world. When young people are prepared and supported in this way, there is no limit to their power to create a better, more just world. In support of this mission, we have launched the Peace First Challenge.
Imagined as a “science fair” for social innovation, the Peace First Challenge is a national call-to action that challenges young people to identify community problems and then puts tools, resources and networks into their hands to make it happen. Each Challenge is built around specific topics facing young people – e.g. cyber-bullying, tolerance, female empowerment – and teams of young people work together to design innovative solutions. Since its launch in the fall of 2016, the platform has over 400 users from 40 states and 29 countries. Through partnerships, peacemaking project have been started in the US, Uganda, Pakistan and more; with requests for additional tools in countries like Yemen, Moldova, Bolivia and Kenya.
"With even the most rudimentary of Peace First ideals, my students are being able to bring their whole selves— fears, goals, and relationships— into the classroom with them.

How to get involved
Time:
The time you spend on Peace First will be totally determined by how you engage with the Peace First Challenge platform. Starting and completing a project will take more time than simply registering as a user and serving as a mentor.
