You should already be running your ECD Centre and be committed to it full time (no other side-jobs - you need to be actively involved at the centre day-to-day). The Grow ECD Small Business Programme will take 2 days to implement at your centre, once approved. You and your staff will be expected to attend ongoing professional development training at least once a quarter to boost your business and education skills and knowledge. You will be using the grow ECD app daily to track your registers and manage your centre's admin - this should save you time on paperwork!

MINIMUM CRITERIA:
1. ECD Centre Owner who has been running their preschool/creche/educare centre for at least 2 years and wants to see the quality of education improve.
2. ECD Centre with at least 20 children enrolled, between the ages of 2 and 5 years.
3. ECD Centre located in a low-income community within 75km from Grow ECD's offices in Cape Town, Midrand or Durban.
4. ECD Centre receiving income of between R200 and R400 per child per month only. This could be made up of parents paying fees and a Government subsidy.
5. ECD Centre owner or the head teacher must have an ECD NQF level 4 qualification since that is the minimum criteria to operate a ECD centre .
6. An ECD Centre in a formal structure like a house, container, building or wendy house (no shacks).
7. You must have an Android smartphone or tablet and internet connection.
8. The centre must have Children-sized tables, chairs and a mat where learning activities can happen.

Once your centre is approved for this opportunity, Grow ECD will be in contact with you. We will place an order with our supplier for your extensive new classroom resource kit and we will activate your access to the play-based online curriculum, built into your Grow Giraffe App.
Once the kit is ready, our Education Mentor and Programme Manager will visit your centre to help you unpack and set up your classrooms in the best way possible. You are getting a LOT of equipment and that can be overwhelming for the teachers, so we offer you and your teachers ongoing support, mentorship and access to our in-person training courses that cover Business, Education and Life skills. (There are over 40 courses to choose from!)
We suggest you host a parent evening and find ways to engage and educate your parents and community about your "upgrade". We can assist you with resources and guidelines. Your community should see the work you have put in and the benefit to their children so that they can support your centre with current and future opportunities.
