The Rig-a-ma-jig presents an exciting opportunity for students to delve into hands-on, creative exploration after completing their assigned work. Its modular design and open-ended nature make it an ideal tool for stimulating imaginative thinking and problem-solving. However, its effectiveness is constrained in larger classes of 20-30 students due to the challenge of providing adequate individualized guidance and supervision. Despite this limitation, the Rig-a-ma-jig remains a valuable resource for smaller groups, offering a dynamic outlet for post-task engagement and encouraging a deeper connection with STEM concepts through interactive play.

I've attached a few photos from some of my students working with this awesome equipment.

Action Plan

Timeline: I am excited to kickstart the Rigamagig Creative Learning Project as soon as all the necessary preparations are in place. There's no specific start date since I plan to incorporate it seamlessly into my teaching approach, continuing its implementation going forward.

Budget: The seed funding I've secured will be wisely allocated to bring the Rigamagig Creative Learning Project to life. A significant portion of the budget will go towards acquiring the Rigamagig itself, a versatile platform for fostering creative learning. Additionally, I will invest approximately $400 to adorn the learning space. This will include purchasing educational posters that complement the learning experience and possibly getting a rug to create a comfortable and visually appealing environment around the Rigamagig.

Impact: I am confident that the Rigamagig Creative Learning Project will bring about a positive transformation in my classroom and the wider community. By providing my students with captivating learning opportunities, I aim to boost their engagement and active participation. For students who complete their tasks ahead of time, this project will offer an enriching avenue to channel their enthusiasm for learning. The emphasis on problem-solving and creativity will align perfectly with my educational goals, nurturing the critical thinking abilities of my students. Through this initiative, I aspire to not only enhance their academic journey but also cultivate their innovative and collaborative skills.

Location: I have chosen the ideal venue for the Rigamagig Creative Learning Project – the Sage Center AWS Think Big Space Classroom in Boardman, Oregon. This dedicated space offers the perfect environment for fostering exploration and creativity among my students. Opting for the AWS Think Big Space reflects my commitment to leveraging advanced resources and technology to enrich the educational experience.

To ensure a smooth execution, I have already taken steps to secure any necessary permissions and permits. This ensures that I can carry out the project seamlessly within the guidelines of the Sage Center.

As I move forward with the project, I am excited to assess its impact, gather valuable feedback from my students, and make any required adjustments to ensure its continued success.
