The next GIY Dundrum meeting is on Saturday October 8th when we will visit the Goatstown allotments, we visited several years ago and it was a really great experience.
We will meet in the car park of the Goat Grill at 10.30 and walk from there to the allotments (just a short stroll away) and once we have had a tour of the allotments we can have coffee together in the pub. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we look forward to seeing you then.
GIY Dundrum will be meeting in Airfield House at 10.30 on Saturday September 10th. We are delighted that our own committee member Patsy Grogan will be giving a talk on bee keeping. Patsy is a very experienced bee keeper and has a wealth of knowledge on the topic, so this talk is well worth attending, even if you don't plan to get your own hive!
We will meet at the main entrance just before 10.30 - if you arrive late please just ask at the ticket desk for the venue.
We are also looking for new members for the organising committee so please let us know if you would be interested in joining us. The time commitment is small as we only meet once a month and it would be great to get some fresh ideas from new committee members.
GIY Dundrum will be meeting in Airfield House at 10.30 on Saturday June 11th (apologies for the short notice). We will meet at the main entrance just before 10.30 and then all go in together. This month we will be having a plant swop, so if you have any spare seedlings or seeks please bring them along. If you would like to share images of your veg plot then please send them to [email protected] before 9 on Saturday morning. Pictures can be a good way to illustrate problems (or successes) in your garden!
See you tomorrow! New members particularly welcome!
Hi everyone. The next GIY Dundrum meeting is on Saturday March 12th in Airfield House at 10.30. We will have a talk by Colm O'Driscoll, who is the head gardener in Airfield. His talk is entitled: Grow Soil, Harvest Food
In this talk Colm will discuss vegetable production with a focus on working with the soil biology to produce healthy soil which translates to healthy vegetables. Learn how to reduce your inputs, cut your labour and reap the reward of a more environmentally sustainable method of growing vegetables. The talk will also discuss the evolution of the food garden in Airfield Estate and will include variety recommendations of some of the tastiest vegetables he has grow.
We are paying a fee for this talk so we would ask that those of you who can afford it would make a contribution on the day.
We will meet by the ticket desk at the entrance at 10.30 and go to the Education Cabins from there so that no one gets lost! It would be very helpful if you would let us know if you plan to attend so that we have a sense of the numbers attending.
Excellent idea to visit local allotments!
