The event runs over two full days (usually a weekend) and your team can invest in as much training as they want beforehand – it's a competition! After the event, we encourage teams to start coding and learning together, which could be a kind of two-hour club workshop

We know how much fun a Coding Pirates Game Jam can be – a two-day event filled with children and young people who fill the premises with conversations, discussion, teamwork, positive we-can-energy, coding and of course laughter! But don't just take our word for it - check out this video and see for yourself what you and your team will create for your local community.

The local Coding Pirates team confirms the event dates and number of participants etc.
Coding Pirates Denmark will support you as best they can, so please email [email protected] with as much information as you have so we can get started.

Finding a venue is really important and you need an open space with tables, chairs, AV, a big screen etc. And of course it needs to be easily accessible.
The jammers need to be fed and hydrated, so make sure your venue provides that too. It can be an intense 24 hours, so your Game Jammers need to rest too - make sure there's room for them to roll out their sleeping bag!

It is the volunteers who carry the event! And you need more than you think. We suggest a ratio of 1 volunteer to 4 children to ensure that Game Jam becomes a safe learning and play environment where children's well-being is top priority. It is always good if the volunteers have coding knowledge if they have to work with the children to learn new coding skills, but it is not an absolute must. The more diverse skills on your team, the better – think filmmakers, designers, project managers and of course your players!

Start recruiting your team as early as possible. Many Coding Pirates volunteers will love to participate! We help recruit volunteers through our Coding Pirates network, social media channels and former Jammers who are eager to give back. ALL volunteers have been checked and must comply with our child protection policy.

Coding Pirates Coding The competition starts on Saturday at 10.00 with introduction, presentation of the year's theme and division into groups.
