Solar for Communities delivers reliable, right-sized solar systems that keep essential services operating during power cuts. Each 2 kW roof-mounted solar installation with battery storage is designed specifically for critical loads such as lighting, fans, computers, device charging, refrigeration for essential supplies, and basic connectivity — without oversizing for non-essential appliances.
Unreliable electricity disrupts community health services, social programmes, and local coordination efforts. Facilities often rely on candles, kerosene, or diesel generators, increasing costs and safety risks. This initiative supports clinics, community centres, and shared public facilities serving underserved populations.
Once funding is secured, Solar Village Project provides a turnkey system including hardware procurement, roof-mounted installation, inverter and battery integration, commissioning, compliance documentation, and 12 months of operations and maintenance support.
Facilities benefit from uninterrupted service delivery, improved safety, lower fuel costs, and reduced environmental impact. To ensure strong community impact, participating sites must meet minimum usage thresholds: clinics should serve a catchment area of approximately 3,000–5,000 people or support 30+ patients per day (in addition to staff), while community centers should serve at least 1,000 people or accommodate 25–50 users per operating day. Approved facilities receive structured implementation guidance and hands-on technical support throughout installation and the first year of operation.
