Bronx Children's Museum launched Rigamajig last weekend (9/28, the World Day of Play) to a sold-out crowd of 200 visitors. We will feature the system one weekend a month in our Wonder Room. Thank you for making this possible. Everyone was delighted, as we hope you can see in the video.

Bronx Children's Museum is excited to launch our Rigamajig on 9/28/24 for International Day of Play. We will use two prompts:
1. Build a Rigamajig you can get inside.
2. What is the tallest structure you can make with 5 pieces?

Here's a peek at what our staff created!

The Bronx Children's Museum is excited by the opportunity to incorporate Rigamajig into its STEM learning opportunities. Here are the results from the group meeting:

Timeline: We plan to use the Rigamajig in both the Museum’s open exhibit and classroom spaces starting in September with the 2024-25 school year, or upon arrival of the basic building kit. Once in house, its use will be supervised by our program team.

Budget: We would use the $400 seed funding for explanatory signage and to buy the $135.00 Cart Cover. Having the cover will not only protect our Rigamajig, but will make it possible to more easily transport the system throughout the building and even into the park in which the Museum sits, expanding potential audience interactions.

Impact: Bronx Children’s Museum is committed to adding more STEM opportunities for children and families as well as professional development for educators. Having Rigamajig helps achieve these goals. An anticipated 50,000 visitors will be able to use the system in the next year—and that number will grow as we add more public days to our schedule.

Location: The Rigamajig will be at the Bronx Children’s Museum building, 725 Exterior Street, 2nd Floor, Bronx, NY. We need no permission or permits to add it to our offerings.

Please note that although we only had four at our planning meeting, our fifth member had input into the action plan.
