Midtown East Enrichment Center has successfully purchased Main Street Commercial refrigerator to assist with our community food initiatives. The refrigerator was purchased March 25, 2025.
To date Midtown East CEC has distributed food to 190 families, 2 group home transitioning adults and senior elderly citizens. Lastly, MECEC has provided stored food items to local food pantry partners Hedge Around You Outreach and Respect for Life Enrichment. Through these partnerships MECEC has distributed food items to an additional 100 families.
The community fridge has provided a tremendous support in increasing food security for local families and expand the life of food for redistribution.

Action plan:
Timeline: The project will begin March 1, 2025. We will meet bi-weekly. There are no key dates to share at this time.
Budget: We will be purchasing a commercial refrigerator to expand our food pantry storage. The remaining funds will be directed towards stocking the refrigerator.
Impact: We have relationships with Whole Foods, Big Lots and others to obtain potential food before being disguarded. Our efforts will continue to minimize food waste by being an food source intermediary and increasing food accessibility. The community will benefit from an additional access to food. We currently feed 150 families per month through our food pantry. This opportunity will increase our impact. It is our plan to educate the community about food scarcity, acessibility and food quality. We are seeking to make an tremendous impact in contributing to food waste reduction.
Location: We are positioned in the Macedonia Baptist Church, 492 Oakwood Ave Columbus Ohio 43205. Midtown East and Macedonia Baptist are community partners with long standing relationship.
