When is the ChangeX Meetup roadshow coming to your town?

When you bring great ideas and great people together, wonderful things happen, right? That’s what we believe at ChangeX and that’s why we’re building a powerful network of local changemakers. We want to help people, communities and countries connect and collaborate around the best ideas for social change. It all starts with you… and with your community.

First Meetups in Castlebar and the Burren

Last week, local changemakers came together in the Burren and in Castlebar to kick off a series of ChangeX Meetups that are happening all around the country over the course of the coming weeks and months. ChangeX Meetups are designed to bring people together to start a conversation about improving their community, this might mean supporting and joining existing ideas or getting new ideas started, it all depends on the needs of your community.

In Castlebar, there is already a thriving community spirit with many exciting projects organised by Love Castlebar. They have given the town a facelift by painting vacant shopfronts, installed art in unused spaces and organised lots of fun community events to bring people together. Led by Helen O’Hara, they’re now starting ‘ChangeX Castlebar’ and hope to add lots of new ideas from ChangeX to those that are already up and running in the town including CoderDojo, GIY and a Men’s Shed. You can hear more from Helen about why she’s involved.

The next day, Tuesday 26th May, a great crowd of changemakers gathered in the Michael Cusack Centre in Carron in the Burren to collaborate, connect and build on some of the wonderful ideas already happening in the Burren. Local changemakers will soon be starting a new Fàilte Isteach group, bringing Playworks to more local schools, starting a Fighting Words workshop and exploring how MyMind can help them bring more accessible and affordable mental health services to the region.
