Our project has had an immense impact on our young people at Boomerang Cafe. The installed custom made booth, equipment and Imac provides us with a very unique selling point to evolve our groups and young musicians. We are having an official launch on Feb 25th at 4-7pm for all ages to come and view our creative space and very own studio. This studio is available to all kids aged 12-18 in Drogheda and surrounding areas and we have linked in with various other youth organisations and schools and it is generating lots of buzz around the local community. Here is an article promoting our space with one of our members recording the very first song in our new soundbooth.

We are also embarking on a new project and recording album. It will all be recorded in our space in Boomerang and will involve all the active youth organisations in Drogheda, making it a totally collaborative community arts project. We can't wait to get started!

Nice local article outlining our progress and promoting our studio launch!
Our studio setup is going really nicely and we are nearly there, just waiting on a few items to be shipped. We had a lovely visit from a local secondary school last week who loved our space!! Lots of creativity and music in the room:)

Just started assembling our soundbooth !
Getting it ready this month and next for new recording project with young people:)
From all of us at Boomerang Youth Cafe and Basement Sounds in Drogheda we would like to say thank you so much for awarding us this grant to expand our project!! This will have a monumental effect on our future plans! I have informed all our groups and one to ones about the great news and we are all very excited for what the new year brings for us at Basement Sounds.
We are immediately going to set in place a plan for constructing our sound booth in the basement space. This will be completed in late February. We are also putting in place a project with Basement Sounds called 'It's A Drawda Thing'. This is going to be an album we are recording with our young members, all done in location with soundbooth in our basement space, to be released on all music platforms. The album will involve 10 young people, who will all perform and record a song throughout the new year. This will have a hugely beneficial effect on the mental health of our members, giving them a creative outlet to process the last two years of the pandemic, and all the anxieties that come with it. We will continue to post videos, photos on here, including the progress of our soundbooth. Again, thank you so much and we are eager to start getting creative in our space! Any info or links you need on our progress, don't hesitate to get in touch:)
Best,
Sean
