"Organize a Festival of Invention and Creativity (FIC) in your community!
With interactive exhibits, hands-on workshops, and lots of celebrating, FICs represent a wonderful opportunity to recognize, celebrate, and amplify local initiatives that help make our education more creative, relevant, and hands-on, inside and outside of schools! There is nothing better than to inspire through example, right?"

The Festivals of Invention and Creativity (FICs) are local celebrations of the inventive, collaborative, and practical spirit of education. During the festivals, children, young people, their families, educators, and the school community have the opportunity to explore materials and technologies, participate in activities, and experience stimulating, interesting, meaningful, and practical learning. FICs are organized by volunteers from all over the country and take place in the most different spaces, always having the "Interactive Showcase" as the main activity.
The Interactive Showcase is at the heart of FIC. It is a practical showcase where students and teachers can have a first contact with tools, techniques, materials, and other practitioners of this educational approach. The environment with working tables and available materials favors experimentation.
The first Festival of Invention and Creativity of Anísio Teixeira Institute had as its main goal to show that through a simple approach, it is possible to have a pleasant, joyful, collaborative and practical learning experience. The event was very well received by the public, bringing the institutions together around the bases of Creative Learning. But what really marked this moment was the curiosity and excitement of students and teachers to see that with practical materials from everyday life, it is possible to have a significant and practical learning, showing that education can be something tangible and transdisciplinary. The two days of FIC were days of passion, reflection while playing, projects, and especially partnerships.

Cómo participar
Tiempo:
It is estimated that it will take you about 2 months to plan the festival with your team, including outreach and curating activities for your interactive showcase. Once your event planning is done, you'll start inviting people who will exhibit or present their work so that they can also get everything organized for their participation. Good planning and mobilization of people can make all the difference to the success of your festival!
