A richly creative and interested community who are passionate about developing a sustainable relationship with our natural environment. We aim to promote positive horticultural and agricultural practices as well as encourage people to reach out more and more towards becoming a cleaner greener area and a cleaner greener Ireland.
Our focus is on education and empowerment whereby through a demonstration of skills and procedures we facilitate local people, young and old to gather, to create and to put into practice small changes which can make a huge difference to our own health and that of our natural world. Our community Hen house and Permaculture Project makes visible the ease with which we can all begin to practice growing in a way that is sustainable for the environment, for our bodies and for our finances. We are passionate in facilitating people to appreciate the landscape we inhabit as something which can floral displays. We also creatively landscape wild areas to promote biodiversity. Our focus is always to educate, facilitate, and to allow people the space to think differently about issues affecting climate change.
Our 2019 GIY Project -Sustainable Living - seeks to create a community hen house space that works with a new perma culture area that doubles as an educational space. As with everything everything we do as part of our tidy towns campaigns, we try to demonstrate best practices in our treatment of the environment having eradicated all chemicals from our maintenance regimes, using pollinator friendly plants across our floral displays. Sustainable Living is a physical example of how sustainable practice such as keeping hens can be integral to a natural way of gardening that is beneficial to the soil, its biodiversity and our health also.
Ultimately Sustainable Living is about creating something beautiful within the natural landscape of our village and to show people that putting down the chemical fertilizer and weed control in no ways compromises the aesthetic, or the productivity of our gardens and our crops.
