Superday 2022 was a great opportunity to spread the word about the OUR Water Program.
A total of 62 water conservation kits have been delivered to BOPU customers, with more requests coming in every day. Many of these customers have high consumption or continuous usage that can be resolved with items in the kit. Initial outreach through social media and the Wyoming Tribune Eagle has been conducted. Additional sources for outreach have been identified to deliver the rest of the kits. Water savings will be estimated later this year. Thank you Microsoft and ChangeX for helping our community with water conservation!
Microsoft has generously provided a grant to launch a new pilot program at the City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities: Outreach for Upgrades and Repair (OUR) Water to help increase water efficiency and save customers money.
The first part of OUR Water is “Outreach for Upgrades”. Bathroom fixtures installed before 1994 use three to five times more water than newer, efficient models. Water conservation kits that include low‐flow showerheads, faucet aerators, plumbing thread tape, leak tablets, and installation guides will be provided to customers, upon their request and at no cost to them.
The second part of OUR Water is to provide “Repairs” for leaky toilets. Silent leaks worsen over time and result in high water bills. Toilet fill valves are the most common source of leaks. New toilet fill valves will be provided to customers, upon their request and at no cost to them.
Additional components, such as flexible supply line and toilet flappers may also be included with the offerings to BOPU customers to help conserve water.
