Welcome to "Mmangwana (Mother and Child) Literacy project! The project was initiated with the aim of promoting literacy and fostering a love for reading among underprivileged children aged 5 to 10 in Soweto, Johannesburg. The sessions include various activities such as storytelling sessions, book distributions, and parental training/information meetings. Through the project, we are bringing the magic of books to the community by the children receiving their very own children’s books.

The Literacy Project's free book distribution activity had quite an impact! Let's break down the data: (Please note that the project is ongoing in Cape Town and Limpopo with the aim of distributing 100% of the Free Book Dash books, These are the different chapters of Women's Federation in South Africa)

Number of books distributed: 2000 - 1250: Johannesburg ; 250 - Limpopo; and 500 Cape Town

Number of children reached: 1900 . This suggests that the project directly impacted about 1900 children.

Number of organizations reached: 20-30 Collaborating with multiple organizations likely expanded the project's reach and effectiveness.

Number of new connections: 70 - 100. Building new connections is essential for the sustainability and growth of any project.

Overall, these numbers reflect a successful initiative with significant outreach and potential for further expansion and impact in promoting literacy.
