Make a change, tell its Story

We are building a network of photographers and videographers to tell the stories of changemakers creating better communities in Ireland.

We started ChangeX one year ago with one community in the Burren, around 20 people and six ideas. Since then we have talked to hundreds of changemakers around Ireland to understand what they are concerned about, what drives them and what their vision is for their communities. We’ve learned a lot from them, seen a lot of great initiatives that are changing the way communities are driving change forward and the creativity people invest to take the future of the communities they want to live in into their own hands.

They inspire us every day and we would love to share their stories in the best possible way.

That’s why we’re putting a call out today to photographers and videographers out there who would like to have an impact with their pictures and videos and help us to tell these stories. We’d like to build a network of creatives in Ireland who would like to have an impact on improving our communities and help celebrate the work of hundreds of changemakers in Ireland.

To become part of this network, you just need to apply through this Google form and we will get in touch with you soon to find the story near you worth spreading.

We’d also like to connect all of you and find out together how the creative forces of professionals and hobbyists can help to explore and portray the beauty of our communities.

We’ve already started with three stories to kick off our adventure and to give you an idea of the kind of stories we’re talking about. Two of them, about Common Ground in Greystones and a Fàilte Isteach class in Blanchardstown are by Alex Sheridan a young Dublin-based photographer who left his comfort zone of fashion photography to work on these stories with us. Another story, the Irish Men’s Shed in Portlaoise was shot by Cormac O’Connell, who wrote a short piece about why he got involved with this ChangeX project for us.

There will be room for your creativity, your perspective on things and your personal interests, but above all there is room to have an impact with your pictures and to make a change by inspiring more people to bring communities closer together and get great stuff done.
